Which of the 8 Sectors are you involved in and why did you choose that particular sector?

Although much of my career training and research is rooted in Public Health, I opted to be involved in the Parks, Recreation, Fitness, and Sports sector because of my interest in Americans (both young and old) having access to a wide variety of safe and affordable physical activity opportunities and resources as one method to increase overall activity levels.

What's most exciting to you about the U.S. having a National Physical Activity Plan?

It is exciting to see people from multiple disciplines uniting and working towards developing ways to create sustainable, active communities for all Americans.

What will success of the NPAP look like to you in 3 years, 5 years? 10 years?

With the NPAP targeting multiple areas, success will come in many different forms, but from my perspective, in 3 years, for all Americans over the age of four to be aware of the physical activity guidelines and have basic knowledge of the importance of regular physical activity. Also, for at 50% of Americans to apply that knowledge to practice and to be active at or above the recommended level. In 5 years, I would like to see increased budgetary spending to support the NPAP, so that in 10 years, the U.S. will have the necessary tools, resources, and infrastructure in place so that active communities and active living are societal norms.
